I want to place a reservation for an item. Why won't the Catalogue let me?

There may be a number of reasons for this:

  • You can only place a request if all copies of a book (excluding 24-Hour Loan or Reference copies) are out on loan. If the Catalogue says a copy has recently been returned, check the returns trolleys.
  • If you already have a book on loan, you will not be able to reserve another copy.
  • If you have already reserved 4 items, you will not be able to reserve any further items.
  • If you have fines of £20 or more, you will not be able to reserve any items.
  • Some items, including reference books, official publications and journals cannot be borrowed.
